I am fourth in a showcase of 24 amazing authors. Be sure to stop by the event, The 24 Days of Christmas Author Showcase, so that you don’t miss anything.
Since it’s my turn, I am going to pee on all of the trees today to mark my territory.
I am J. H. Glaze and if you haven’t heard of me yet, now you have. Instead of talking about how fucking awesome my books are, I want to share 24 things for The 24 Days of Christmas Author Showcase that I have learned over my many years.
Some of them you may find useful, and if so, I am glad I shared them with you. Though some of them may sound like positive attitude shit, these are things I know to be true.
- We can’t be successful on our own. It is the generosity and help of other people that propels us to the dreams we hope to make our reality.
- If you are in a relationship, there is nothing you can’t fix if you are willing to accept the fact that you might be wrong.
- Sometimes people say they are going to do things and don’t. It isn’t always because they lied, or they don’t want to help. Sometimes they are just overwhelmed with their own problems. Those who follow through should be treated special – because they are.
- Sometimes to change your life, you have to change your friends.
- If you are having trouble finding work where you live, it may be time to move somewhere else.
- Don’t be afraid to take risks as long as those risks are not illegal. We can’t succeed by sitting on the sofa.
- Treasure your relationships with your children when they are young, but be firm when it comes to discipline. Kids don’t need friends, they need parents. You will find that when they finally become adults, they will be great friends.
- Don’t read books you don’t enjoy or watch movies that don’t grab you in the first 15 minutes. It is not worth wasting your time to try and force yourself to like something just because it cost you a couple of bucks.
- If you enjoy horror, try some comedy once in a while. If your thing is reading erotica, put that book down and fuck somebody.
- Don’t resent that you have to get up and go to work everyday. Instead, find something you enjoy doing and make it your job.
- Tell your mom you love her, every time you talk to her. You will never regret it and neither will she.
- If you don’t have friends, find a hobby, but if you have a hobby and no friends, take a break and find some.
- Never let your true feelings out in an argument. Discuss them calmly with others before they add up to where an argument is necessary.
- New clothes can make you feel better about yourself unless you have so many that you never wear them. Clean out that closet and donate to charity. That will make you feel good too.
- Always be willing to help someone you know. It is nice to help strangers, but sending a check to a large charity is usually just subsidizing the lifestyle of the people running it.
- When the voices in your head tell you that you don’t deserve something, or you are not worthy of someone’s love, tell them to shut the fuck up.
- Have at least one furry pet, preferably a dog. There is nothing better than unconditional love.
- You will likely have more in common with someone you went to school with than someone you work with. This is because you have shared developmental experiences.
- Social media is just media. Don’t be upset if your social media friends are not ‘there’ for you, but rejoice when they are.
- Always try to be cheerful. Life is a mirror and it will reflect back on you.
- Don’t complain, change the situation.
- You really are what you eat, so therefore, if you don’t eat shit you can neither be it or full of it.
- Consider everyone’s point of view as important to them and never tell them they are wrong, even if they are. Instead present YOUR point of view and give them a chance to change their mind. If they don’t change their mind, accept that fact that people are different. Some of the best friends you will have might disagree with you more than 50% of the time.
- Read my books. You will be surprised how fucking good they are.
And that’s it. I could go on, but I am sure you have more important things to do.
